SHIFT SCHEDULE for Front Desk (Sun - Sat):

Help monitor people coming for lunch.

11 AM - 1 PM

PLEASE NOTE: For some kitchen shifts or large groups, some or all group members may be asked to help with other tasks, including unloading donations, cleaning or deep cleaning, folding laundry, organizing shelves, and other work as well.

RESEARCH and OUTREACH EFFORTS

We are seeking volunteers interested in conducting affordable housing and employment searches for our shelter tenants. This would entail online research and outreach efforts (including cold calls) to prospective affordable housing contacts and/or prospective employers.

Remote or onsite! Interested volunteers can perform this task remotely or in person at Boston Rescue Mission.

For more information, please call Alisa, our Volunteer Coordinator, at (617) 338-9000 x 1230 or email her directly at volunteer@brm.org

MAINTENANCE
Due to the volume of clients and guests who are served by the Mission each year, the Mission requires a great deal of upkeep and repair. Maintenance volunteer duties may include deep cleaning, painting, repairing, and home improvement. Volunteers particularly talented in specific areas such as electrical, plumbing, and mechanical are eagerly sought. The schedule for this opportunity is need-based.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out one of our applications. Feel free to download a more extensive list of guidelines for volunteering in our volunteer handbook.

DRIVER

Our volunteer drivers have a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record. We need help driving our cargo vans, picking up food donations from area restaurants, transferring and storing those donations, and other driving tasks as needed. Lifting up to 50 lbs. is a must. Volunteers have strong interpersonal skills, are self-motivated, and graceful in attitude and spirit. Please be professional in appearance and manner, present a model of loyalty and confidentiality, possess maturity, have a good memory and strong detail orientation, and a sense of love and care for the needy.
